Eden Allotment Gardens
Eden Allotment Gardens are located within a five hectare site off Beltoy Road just outside Eden village near Carrickfergus in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Eden Allotment Gardens is the largest allotment site in Ireland and were established in April 2008. Eden allotments are provided and administered by Carrickfergus Borough Council.
Allotment gardening in Eden can provide a number of benefits to individuals, such as the opportunity to produce a wide range of relatively inexpensive healthy vegetables, whilst at the same time providing physical exercise in the outdoors. It can also create the opportunity to make new friends and provide the chance to socialise with others who enjoy a similar rewarding pastime.
Allotments can provide a great sense of well-being and give pleasure and satisfaction to people who through their own skills and effort produce their own food and of course in addition allotments are also beneficial to the environment and wildlife generally. Carrickfergus Borough Council is committed to improving the quality of life for all the people of Borough through the services it provides including our allotment service at Eden.
Allotments are only available to Carrickfergus Borough residents. To apply please complete the Eden Allotment Gardens online application. Not got an allotment? Why not take the One Pot Pledge.
Whitehead & Greenisland Allotment Proposals: It is Carrickfergus Borough Council’s intention to extend our allotment provision to Whitehead & Greenisland, subject to community, financial and planning agreement. To evaluate the level of interest before we progress our Allotment Strategy we have an expression of interest form for each area. Download Whitehead Form Here or Greenisland Form Here.
Change to allotment water supply! Please be advised that the water at Eden Allotment Gardens is non-potable (drinkable) and cannot be consumed. Each tap has a warning sign and a notice is prominent at the entrance to the site.
Eden Allotment Gates: Allotment holders may have noticed that we have updated the locks on the gates, this will help to prevent misuse of the allotment site. This will only work if allotment holders carry out their duty to close gates behind them. Please Note: the key you were supplied when you joined still works with the new locks. Have you lost your allotment gate key?: Additional keys may be purchased from the Civic Centre Tourist Information Centre at 11 Antrim Street for £5.00. Please note identification and proof of allotment tenancy will be required.
